Interior bathroom projects in Omaha and everywhere else are very common. Many of the older homes in the area have only one small bathroom, maybe even an additional small half bath. The most common problem with small bathrooms in the Omaha Metro Area, is poor natural lighting. Many people try to fix this problem by adding more interior lights, but that does not always help the situation. The bulk of adding more lighting can often overwhelm a small space, which can often make a small space fell even smaller.
A Perfect Touch Painting has a great amount of experience with Small Interior spaces. That is why we have many tips, tricks, and suggestions that may work well for any any small bathroom or space in your home.
Most important thing to know is that Light Paint Colors help to reflect light and Dark Paint Colors can often absorb light.
Dark Colors can make a room feel closed in and appear smaller than it really is. By choosing a light hued and toned color for the walls it is easy to make the room feel larger. I am not suggesting that everyone should have to paint their bathrooms white. I am however suggesting that a soft color is what we have had the best overall results with. I am talking about colors such as light sage or light greys or light blues (but not baby boy blue) or anything that offers just a subtle hint of color would work best. Then if you want a dark color present in your bathroom, just use it for accents. A candle here or there, maybe the hand towels, or pictures (small ones work best for small spaces) can give you that contrast you desire but without an overwhelming affect.
Also important to know is which sheen to use.
Using a paint with a flat sheen is generally not recommended by A Perfect Touch Painting for bathrooms. The reason for this is that at times, interior flat paint can seem almost chalky after being exposed to moisture from steam. A satin sheen is what we, A Perfect Touch Painting, prefer to use in a bathroom. A satin sheen offers a very subtle but noticeable reflection while resisting moisture caused by steam. This of course is helpful when trying to make that small bathroom look larger. Some people chose to use a semi gloss sheen. The benefits to this is that it has a high quality reflection and will fill the small room with light. The down side to using a semi gloss sheen or gloss sheen is that when moisture from steam is present it can cause the walls to feel "slimy" or "slick".
These are just a few of the things to keep in mind when needing a change in that small bathroom or space in your home.
So, just to let those of you suffering from small bathroom anxiety know, it is possible to have your small bathroom appear and feel larger just by changing the interior paint color.
